Tim Turner graduated with an Honours degree in Management and Chemistry from the University of Manchester in 1984. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, being admitted a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1989. He was admitted to Fellowship of the Institute in 2002.
Following qualification, Tim came to work in Gibraltar and, apart from a short period working in UK industry, has remained here ever since. His background includes a period working as a financial controller in the logistics industry, a group accountant in the financial services sector, as well as spending a period in the audit profession. In 1998, he set up his own practice in Gibraltar, specialising in audit, accounting and taxation advice for both local "on-shore" clients, and offshore individuals, companies and trusts. In 2016, he relinquished his audit licence and can no longer accept audit engagements.
As a "sole practitioner", Tim is able to provide a personal service and individually tailor his efforts to the requirements of each client. The main advantage of this is that clients urgent requirements are treated as urgent - they don't find that work has to be slotted in "next week / month / year!".
Gibraltar has been described as "a little piece of Britain at the entrance of the Mediterranean".
The legal system in Gibraltar is based on UK common law and all relevant EC directives are either implemented already, or are in the process of being brought in. The Financial Services sector is overseen by an independent Financial Services Commission. The existence of the GFSC, coupled with the implementation of EC directives makes Gibraltar one of the best regulated Financial Centres in the world today.
